There are only a couple of months left in the year (is it time to panic yet?!) but there are still plenty of books to be excited about that will be released soon. There are a couple of books in particular that I have no patience left to read. The anticipation is killing me! Somehow, it worked out perfect that the four I am looking forward to the most each represent one of my favorite genres: YA, Post-Modernism, Mystery, and Science.

My can’t-wait-for books for the end of 2018 are:

1. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Release date: October 2

Can we first start with how beautiful all of Laini Taylor’s covers are? Gorgeous. “Muse of Nightmares” is the second, and final book in Taylor’s newest series, which began with “Strange the Dreamer.” The longer I have sat thinking about Strange, the more I miss the world and the story. Taylor is an artist when it comes to world building and has stories that are unlike anything else I have ever read. And her words are pure honey.

 

2. Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami

Release date: October 9

It might be obvious by now that Haruki Murakami is my favorite author of all time. It has been a while since he has released a novel, since his most recent book, “Men Without Women” was a compilation of short stories. Murakami is known for his just slightly not realistic stories, where everything is normal except for a woman with psychic ears, for example. It has been a while since I have read a book of his that reminded me of why I fell in love with his writing, like “Wind-up Bird Chronicle” or “Kafka on the Shore” and I have high hopes for this book to capture this surrealism.

 

3. The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Release date: September 18

I have been looking for a good mystery that brings about the same ambiance as an Agatha Christie book, and many have compared this one to her stories. In “The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle,” you know that Evelyn will die during a party at 11pm, and the main character, Aiden, must solve it by reliving the day over and over from different perspectives as different attendees of the party. Sounds so promising!

 

4. True or Poo? by Nick Caruso and Dani Rabaiotti

Release date: October 23

“Does it Fart?” was a truly magical book, and I have every hope that “True or Poo?” will live up to my expectations. I love random animal facts, and this one also covers old-wives-tales. As an added bonus, the illustrations will be phenomenal, I’m sure.
