T5W: Characters You’d Cosplay

Top 5 Wednesday

Happy Halloween everyone! Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam (Thoughts on Tomes) featuring a variety of topics. Information can be found at the Goodreads page.

This week’s prompt is characters you’d cosplay as or dress up as for Halloween. I adore this prompt, because I love making costumes, I just wish there were more occasions to wear them! Some of the ideas I’ve thought would be fun to try out are:

1. Karou from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy

Karou is such a strong, unique character with so much spunk. Plus, she has blue hair, which would be pretty awesome.

2. Sarai from Strange the Dreamer

Yes, I did just finish reading this series, and yes I still can’t stop thinking about it. But this is one character that even if there is never a movie made out of the book, she would still be recognizable. With the blue skin, red hair, moths, and nightgown, I feel like this would be not only an easy, but immediately recognizable costume.

3. If You Give a Moose a Muffin

Okay, I love moose. Like, a lot. They are my favorite animal of all time. Dressing up as a moose with a basket of muffins would be such a hoot! As an added bonus, I love muffins and would get to eat them, but I might want some jam to go with them…..

4. Miss Frizzle

One of my childhood icons, Miss Frizzle! I love her planetary dresses and dressing up as her would be a nod to the passion she may have helped instill in me as a child. Being a scientist now, I think it’s important to honor popular icons that promote knowledge, especially those that are women!

5. Anna from Frozen

No, Anna is not a book character and has not appeared in any books. But the minute I saw the film, I knew I HAD to have her coronation dress. Finally this year, I got around to making the dress!! Please don’t judge the picture (totally NOT instagram worthy haha), hoping to get some better ones when dressing up for handing out candy tonight!

I’m always looking for new ideas for cosplay and costumes, and ball gowns are always a plus! What were you dressed up as for Halloween this year, or what was your favorite costume? Be safe, and don’t eat too much candy!
