It’s Wednesday again! Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam (Thoughts on Tomes) featuring a variety of topics. Information can be found at the Goodreads page.

This week, the prompt is the books I will be prioritizing for the end of the year, since there are only 6 weeks left!! Panic!!! To be completely honest, I’m not too worried about meeting my reading goal for the year (40 books) thanks to the N.E.W.T.s read-a-thon this month. In fact, I’m ahead of schedule at 35 books! But there are still a few books I’m hoping to read before the year rolls over.

1. A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki

I have been reading this book for what feels like an eternity. I just keep getting distracted by ARCs or library books or other new releases and only on a rare occasion do I get to make progress with it. I don’t know why I haven’t just finished it, I am LOVING it so far. I just haven’t. So I’m ready to put my foot down and say enough is enough!

 

2. Galápagos by Kurt Vonnegut

My spousal unit has been begging me to read this book for a while, and made me promise I would read it as soon as the read-a-thon was done. So come December 1, I’ll be diving into it!

 

3. The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers by Maxwell King

Yes, this is the biography of none other than Mister Rogers. I’m hoping this will be as heartwarming and uplifting as it sounds, because we could all use that about now.

 

4. Darwin Comes to Town by Menno Schilthuizen

I’m embarrassed to say that I received this one as an ARC ages ago, and still haven’t gotten around to reading it. But I want to. So with the end of the year approaching, I’m going to wrap up several of my outstanding ARCs to start the year off on a good foot!

 

5. We Have No Idea: A Guide to the Unknown Universe by Jorge Cham, Daniel Whiteson

Some lite reading before the end of the year in a format that is different from a classic book. Here, our current understanding of physics and the universe is presented in comic form. I’ve been interested to see how this one turned out.

 

These are all, of course, in addition to my most anticipated releases of 2018 which I haven’t gotten around to yet. Time to hunker down and get reading! What are you planning on reading for the last part of the year?
