Coffee Book Tag

Coffee Book Tag

If you know me, or even if you don’t, you should know that I LOVE coffee. A little too much. To dangerous levels. To the point my doctors had to intervene (literally, I wish I was kidding about that). When I saw the Coffee Book Tag done over on Sara @ The Bibliophagist, I knew I had to participate, or I would be letting myself down.

I tried to track down the creator of this beautiful meme, but alas, after chasing the rabbit back at least 3 years, the trail ran cold and I thought I was left with no answers until I found the source! BangadyBangz, thank you for making this tag!

BLACK: NAME A SERIES THAT’S TOUGH TO GET INTO BUT HAS HARDCORE FANS

wheel of time

Yes, the good ol’ Wheel of Time series. With so many not-so-short books, and books known to be just filler, this can seem a mighty undertaking by those who haven’t already started. But let’s just see a show of hands for who is STOKED FOR THE AMAZON SHOW!!!! Ahem….

PEPPERMINT MOCHA: NAME A BOOK THAT GETS MORE POPULAR DURING THE WINTER OR A FESTIVE TIME OF YEAR

polar express

I don’t think I even need to explain this one. ❤

HOT CHOCOLATE: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK?

lorax

The Lorax has always, and will always, be my favorite children’s book. The messages in it are so powerful and important, especially today. This is a book that will stay relevant and sadly is still too close to the truth. Unless……

DOUBLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO: NAME A BOOK THAT KEPT YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT FROM START TO FINISH

blood

I was seriously surprised how stressed I got reading this book (and not in a bad way). It has this jet-speed propulsion that kept me reading into the late hours of the night to finish it.

STARBUCKS: NAME A BOOK YOU SEE EVERYWHERE

throne of glass

Really, anything by Sarah J. Maas seems to be plastered all over everything! I have yet to read any of her works, but maybe I should see what all of the fuss is about.

THAT HIPSTER COFFEE SHOP: GIVE A BOOK BY AN INDIE AUTHOR A SHOUTOUT

This is that moment in my life that I realize that I don’t think I’ve ever read an Indie author’s work. Shame on me. Shame. This is something I will rectify in 2019! (Please give me the recommendations!)

OOPS! I ACCIDENTALLY GOT DECAF: NAME A BOOK YOU WERE EXPECTING MORE FROM

7.5

I was expecting to love The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, but was left with a bitter, watered down feeling in my mouth (a lot like decaf!)

THE PERFECT BLEND: NAME A BOOK OR SERIES THAT WAS BOTH BITTER AND SWEET BUT ULTIMATELY SATISFYING

77b13-list2bof2bcages

I decided to go with A List of Cages for this one because of how emotionally raw I felt after reading it. Parts were entirely upsetting, but others were overwhelmingly endearing in their humanity.

Green Tea: a book or series that is quietly beautiful

372d3-kitchen

Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto was absolutely stunning. (Complete coincidence that a Japanese author ended up on the Green Tea prompt, I swear!! >.< ) The two stories covering the pages of this book both have to do with a kitchen, but also everything that a kitchen represents to family and unity, acceptance and love. The love and loss in this book were elegant and deeply moving.

Chai: a book or series that makes you dream of far off places

39b5a-strange2bthe2bdreamer

Not only is “dream” in the title and an intricate part of the story, but the amazing lands and journey in the book have me yearning for such a journey.

Earl Grey: favorite classic

mice

Yes, I am always going to put Of Mice and Men as my favorite classic. I reread it every other year at Christmas, which means in a couple of weeks I’ll be sitting down to sob my brains out again.
