Books Sitting On My Bookshelf, Literally

Bookshelf Reading List

I have a problem, a serious problem. I keep buying books without getting around to reading them. I can’t help it! Library sales are my nemesis. Shiny covers are my weakness. And once I have a book, I can’t let it go.

This year I am participating in the Beat the Backlist reading challenge, and my goal is to get at least 20 of the books I have been putting off for years off of my TBR for good. With roughly a quarter of all books on my to read list literally sitting on my bookshelf (or Kindle), I have plenty to choose from.

In fact, with a quick scan over my bookshelf, I found the following just sitting there, none of which I have read:

Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan
Dead Letters by Claire Dolan-Leach
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
Leona: The Die is Cast by Jenny Rogneby
Life Ascending by Nick Lane
Magic of Recluce by L.E. Modesitt Jr.
Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko
Rainbow Dust by Peter Marren
Severance by Ling Ma
Slade House by David Mitchell
Stone of Tears by Terry Goodkind
Tess of the d’Urbevilles by Thomas Hardy
The Anomaly by Michael Rutger
The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty
The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo
The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells
The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
The Lies We Told by Camilla Way
The Many-Colored Land by Julian May
The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie
The Oracle Year by Charles Soule
The Prestige by Christopher Priest
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
The Sentient Machine by Amir Husain
The Silmarilion by J.R.R. Tolkein
Three Graves Full by Jamie Mason
We Have No Idea by Jorge Cham and Daniel Whiteson
Wicked by Gregory MacGuire
Wizarded Away by Mason J. Schneider
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

I will not be running out of reading material any time soon! And many of the titles I have been looking forward to for a long time, they just keep slipping down my reading list.

Have you read any of the above books? Any suggestions of which ones I should start with?
