I have been posting a lot lately about all of the books I have been meaning to read for ages. From the classics to those sitting on my bookshelf, I have a lot to choose from for the Beat the Backlist reading challenge.

But…. I really struggle with decisions. Like, a lot.

So I’m giving a TBR Jar a try! I’ve seen this around in many forms on several blogs, and loved the idea. Essentially, I placed all of the books on my TBR (I limited it to the ones I physically owned) in a jar and then I can draw at random a book, which I will be forced gladly read.

Voilà!

Okay, okay, you got me. It isn’t a jar, but TBR Jar has such a nice ring to it. So welcome to my TBR basket!

I have decided to draw one book a month at minimum, and then try to finish that book at some point over the month. Since it is still early in the month, I asked my lovely assistant (my husband) to help me pick my first book.

Stone of Tears by Terry Goodkind.

My feelings? I’m actually not very happy about this. This just happens to be the longest book that was put in the basket and is the second book in a 15 (I think?) book series. I read the first book maaaaaany years ago. Part of me was hoping this book would never be drawn. Should I sneak the book back into the pile and draw again?!?!

But what kind of person would I be if I didn’t follow the rules of my game in the first month?! I should wait at least three months before I start cheating. I’m a little worried I won’t be able to finish this book by the end of the month, since I have a few ARCs to get through, but I can at least make a dent in it.
