For the time being, I have instated a temporary moratorium on book purchases. Not because I don’t want the books, but because I really need to read the ones I have already.
That being said, that certainly won’t stop me from bringing new books into the house, for I have exploited a loophole: the library!!
I love the library and having the public library literally across the street from my place of employment is extremely dangerous. Even if I just walk in for a coffee, I always end up walking out with a stack of books. With no regrets.
Over the winter holiday I had made a list of books that were well received in 2018 which I hadn’t gotten around to and of course the library had a stand with all of those books located directly inside the entrance. Did I mention I have no self control?
So this month, these beautiful books made their way onto my pile to read with the added pressure of due dates to keep me on track to finish them:
- The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking
- Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus
- I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara
- The Good Neighbor by Maxwell King
- Circe by Madeline Miller
- The Outsider by Stephen King
I also checked out Eye of the World (Wheel of Time #1) by Robert Jordan on audiobook. I originally read it 17 years ago, and with the upcoming TV adaptation, I figured it was time to refresh my memory!
What books did you add to your collection this month? Have you read any of these?
Hooray, using your library is wonderful! 😀 You’re lucky that you were able to get Circe – I placed a hold two weeks ago and I’m still like #180 in line 😅 But I hope you enjoy all of these!

Wow! I’m shocked at how popular Circe is! I’m very excited to read it as I’ve only heard great things about it! Luckily my library had 60 copies, so I only had to wait a couple of weeks to get it. Hopefully you get it soon!!!

Great library haul! Two Can Keep A Secret is a great read and I’m hoping to read Circe and I’ll Be Gone In The Dark some time soon as well.
