While paper airplanes are a classic childhood joy, Beautiful Press-Out Flying Butterflies creates a whole new playing field. Imagine creating actual, flying butterflies from a book. Now you don’t need to imagine!

This book provides punch out patterns for over 20 different butterflies from around the world. These pieces get assembled around a coin to provide weight to the model, resulting in flight that mimics genuine butterflies once released into the air. How delightful! And there is such a variety of butterflies to choose from. I work with butterflies for a living, and there were butterflies in this book that even I had not heard of before. Each pattern comes with information about the natural history of the butterfly, including the location, habitat, diet, and behavior in an easy to digest paragraph. And the colors! Absolutely stunning!

Having raised thousands of some of the butterflies featured in this book, I can say that while the images are not 100% accurate, they are so close and such minor details that I only noticed because I have seen so many. I recommend for anyone who has children or loves butterflies as a new way to appreciate paper crafts.

Overall, 4/5 moose
