Who’s excited for another read-a-thon?! I AM!!!

It has been a few months since I participated in my last read-a-thon, and I’m so thrilled to announce that I will be participating in the O.W.L.s Magical Read-a-thon starting on April 1 for the duration of the month.

I missed this read-a-thon last year, as I didn’t even know about it, but was so lucky to participate in an off-schedule O.W.L.s examination with some wonderful ladies (Sophie, Lily, and Steph, check them out!!). So this year I can do the real thing! HUZZAH!

In case you are interested, here is the announcement video for the read-a-thon:

What am I most excited about, you ask? The CAREERS! Now instead of just choosing subjects based on interest or what books you happen to have on hand, there is a career guide that you can follow! In order to pursue a specific career, you must pass your O.W.L. for particular subjects.

While I am soooooo excited for this, it left me with a very, very, VERY difficult decision to make. What do I choose?! I agonized over this. A LOT. In fact, I still have not come to a conclusion. I’ve narrowed it down to two, and fortunately, they can be completed simultaneously and I can choose my official career when taking my N.E.W.T.s later this year!

I thought for this go around, I would pick the magical careers that most closely mirror my career in the real world, so I will be going for either a Magizoologist or a Hogwarts Professor of Magizoology.

When deciding which books I wanted to fill each requirement, I realized that with my reading habits, it would be best to come up with a couple book options to meet each prompt. So, with the requirements for these careers in mind, here is what I am thinking:

Magizoologist

1. Care of Magical Creatures: A land animal on the cover
2. Charms: Read an adult work

killing

3. Herbology: A plant on the cover
4. Potions: A sequel

Hogwarts Professor

1. A book in the subject to teach- Care of Magical Creatures (above)
2. Defense Against the Dark Arts: Starts with an “R”
3. 5 other subjects
-Charms (above)
-Herbology (above)
-Potions (above)
-History of Magic: A book published over 10 years ago
-Ancient Runes: A retelling

At least these are my thoughts at the moment. They are sure to change as I get into the month! My plan is to start with the requirements for Magizoologist, and then if I have the time complete the requirements for Hogwarts Professor, since the requirements line up so nicely.

Will you be participating in the read-a-thon? What career are you planning on pursuing?!
