I have successfully completed my first book towards the OWLs read-a-thon! I chose this book to fall under the “History of Magic” category, though if this cover doesn’t immediately make you want to read this book, I don’t think we can be friends. It just makes my heart sing.
Hope Never Dies is described as an Obama Biden mystery and takes place after the 2016 election. Biden and Obama have gone their separate ways, and Joe is missing his best friend. One night, the 44th president of the United States shows up on Joe’s back porch with bad news: Joe’s favorite Amtrak conductor has been killed by a train. Biden takes it upon himself to get to the bottom of things, and thus Obama and Biden are reunited under unlikely circumstances as make-shift private investigators.
This is not a book to take too seriously. It is light reading, and has those heartwarming, meme-worthy bromance moments. With his new green Charger, his Ray Ban sunglasses, and his trusty Medal of Freedom, Biden is written like he jumped straight out a gif, and I’m totally okay with that.
This book was a very welcome break from the unending news cycle, and gave me all of the warm feelies. If you are in it solely for the murder case, this book may prove underwhelming. But if you want to read about Obama beating up a biker gang, then read on my friend, read on.
Overall, 4/5 moose
Aaaww this sounds so amazingly awesome! I was super intrigued when you first mentioned it but I wasn’t sure what to expect – would it be a parody? An action-packed mystery? Who knew! I just knew I wanted to read it ASAP XD
Glad to hear it was a lovely read and made for a very entertaining experience. Also, congrats on finishing the book for the readathon 😀 Best of luck with the rest of them and see you at our GR group! ❤
